Recently I was a bit short at reaching the free shipping threshold online at Ulta so I threw one of the Matte Lip Creams ($9) in my cart. I’m usually a fan of their own makeup brand so I wanted to give one of these a try.
There are 16 colors to choose from but I picked up Proper, a medium peach color. I like the nice sized pointed doe foot applicator but was sad that there is no scent.
The formula is light with a semi-whipped texture. The color is nice and opaque with lots of color payoff in just one coat.
Proper is a tiny bit patchy when you look super up close. From an average distance though you really can’t tell.
I’m not sure why they call these matte though. It never dries down fully and stays glossy as well.
Since it never fully dries, it transfers really easily and needs reapplied throughout the day. But on the plus side, it never makes my lips uncomfortably dried out either.
The color Proper is much more bold than I expected. They describe is as an apricot peach but to me it runs a bit on the neon side.
I have very mixed feelings on this matte lip cream. It has good coverage, good color payoff and doesn’t make my lips feel parched. I only wish it dried matte and was longer lasting.
