Lancome’s Monsieur Big mascara ($25) touts “heart-stopping volume”. More specifically, 12X the volume with up to 24 hour wear. Is it worth the hype? Continue reading my review to find out!
First of all I love the packaging. It’s a chubby black tube with a bright pink metallic logo.
I was worried that the chubbier tube would mean an extra large and chubby brush, which can be hard to work with. I was really glad to see that the wand is a pretty standard size.
The brush itself is fiber bristles and not plastic. The tube also has a click closure so you can actually feel that you’ve closed the mascara tube completely.
The formula is right in the middle. It’s not too wet but it not dry either.
The mascara easy glides through my lashes and transfers nicely. Two thin coats does the trick for me.
Twice the volume may be pushing it in my opinion. It does add some really great length and volume but I don’t think my lashes look twice as thick.
The formula can get a bit clumpy towards the end of your second coat. Anything more than that starts to get very chunky and clumpy looking.
With Monsieur Big, I’m able to get a full day’s wear without any flaking, smudging or transferring. My lashes seem to stay nicely curled throughout the day as well.
Overall I’m enjoying this Lancome mascara. However, I don’t think the results are remarkable enough for me to repurchase.
Does this look like a mascara you’d enjoy?
