Not that I’m over the age of 40, anything that even mentions hydration is on my radar. So when I saw that one of my favorite budget brands, e.l.f., came out with a Hydrating Gel Mist ($8) spray, I bought it immediately.
I’ve been using this gel mist for well over a month now and sadly I’m not a real fan. I had serious high hopes that it simply just didn’t meet.
It’s definitely a unique product. In the bottle it’s thick and clumpy, similar to what hair gel looks like. The idea is that the gel turns into a gentle mist when it’s sprayed onto the face.
Not true. At all!
It comes out in giant droplets that splatter all over your face in the most unappealing way. It almost feels like someone is spitting on you, not that I know really what that feels like either lol.
It applies so unevenly to the face. I find myself needing to pat my hands onto my face to better distribute the gel mist around.
The formula sounds amazing. It’s enriched with orange, lemon, chia seed, bilberry extract, sugar cane and sugar maple.
All of the rich antioxidants are supposed to work together to plump and hydrate your skin. Sound too good to be true right?
Unfortunately it is. I see no difference in my skin while using this daily.
The only thing I notice it doing is making my skin feel really sticky. Even when using it as a primer spray, it doesn’t help my makeup look better or last longer.
Sadly I have to give this two big thumbs down and I do not recommend it. The benefits for this hydrating gel spray just simply don’t outweigh dealing with the spitting, splattering spray.
